LEAWAY

Soft landscape design
Client: LLDC
With: 5th Studio

Strategic links along River Lea with urban ecology interventions and edible landscape as part of 5th Studio’s dramatic re-working of this post-industrial landscape.

The project is made up of a series of landscape projects, which form the backbone of Lea River Park; connecting the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Three Mills to the Thames.

Works concentrate on resolving severances to the riverside walk, including provision of ‘edible landscapes’ harking back to the River Lea’s horticultural history, ‘chemical landscapes’ related to industrial history and ground contamination, and celebration of the valley’s flora both alien and native. A strategy of marker trees provides a visual connection between these varied elements.
