Soft & hard landscape design
Client: Churchill College, Cambridge
With: 6a architects,
RIBA East Award 2017
Following a competition win in 2007, the project included the realisation of a new residential block within the college grounds, enclosing a woodland courtyard garden of mixed birch trees and simple bark chip surface to complement the timber building facade.
Wider landscape works included new tree planting, ground modelling and path construction. Extensive landform work settles the new building into the landscape, helping to acoustically screen noise from the adjacent road.
