Olympic
access project following a successful competition entry. A new 2.5km
linear park comprising footpath and cycleway runs along atop
Bazalgette’s magnificent Northern Outfall Sewer. The Greenway adds
valuable open space to Stratford, and skirts the edge of the Queen
Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The pedestrian/cycleway runs through a semi-wilderness; with habitat enhancements to mitigate loss of brownfield habitat within the Olympic site through the re-use of demolition materials in ‘rubblefields’ among planting, and extensive planting including hedges of Rosa rugosa, edible hedges, and wildflower meadows.
